Scientific Paranormal Photo Evidence
The following contains digital pictures picked up by our team on various investigations. Ratings are arbitrary by our staff that we have determiend based on how impressive the clip is. These extend between 0.1 (lowest) and 5.0 (highest). Higher ratings indicate a greater quality and likelihood of paranormal activity. Lower ratings indicate poor quality and ambiguity between natural and paranormal. Please note that these are only a few of our favorites. For a full listing of data, please see all cases in the past and locate a particular piece of data from that case.

Community Photo Evidence
The following contains photos picked up by other members of the Scientific Paranormal community or abroad.
Picture - Fast-moving light

Date: 10/28/07
Comments: This particular light is seen moving very very fast from top to bottom, and giving off a substantial amount of light. However, the light is not bright enough to be caused by a flashlight as it is localized in one area, as shown by our video counterpart of this orb. This image was taken at an extremely fast shutterspeed, which may indicate that the velocity of this object could be as high as .5 meters a second. Because of human contamination in nearby areas, we still have given this picture a lower rank even though it may be a legitimate light.

Picture - Ectoplasmic like Light

Date: 9/18/07
Comments: This picture was taken right near some trees and clearly shows a light that appears to be giving off its own light to the top left. This light contains a tail, indicating it was moving when taken. If the entire camera was moving, then every object in the immediate area would also have a tail, but they do not. Also, it is impossible for this to be reflected as the only thing in the tree is wood and open air. Bugs are unlikely to have cause this light and reflection, due its relatively large size and no wings detected. Moisture is a possibility here, but difficult to discern.

Picture - Potential Full Bodied Apparition

Date Submitted: 1/15/08
Comments: A community member gave this picture to us from when herself and friends were investigating an old Rock Quarry in Syracuse, NY (Often called the Split Rock Quarry). As history goes, there was an explosion when miners were working in the early 20th century. This explosion released dozens of dangerous chemicals and killed over 50 men. The chemicals released were never fully researched, but most likely it was a type of phosphorus poison. This type of poison can turn skin bright yellow. This snapshot was taken in a rush while trying to capture photo evidence of any such ghosts still haunting the quarry. While the picture itself is somewhat blurry, the accurate depiction of a full bodied apparition, apparently male, and apparently without clothes on, is quite stunning. It also contains a yellowish hue, which further enhances the claims of yellowish ghosts in that area. While the validity of this picture cannot be determined because it is a community photo, it is still nevertheless quite interesting and should be analyzed extensively.

Picture - Shadow Cat

Date Submitted: 9/18/08
Comments: An individual brought this picture to our attention, which was taken accidentally in her home. After losing her cat to age, the individual had occasionally continued to feel the presence of the cat after it's death. While longing for a loved one, pet or human, is quite a natural feeling, this picture does have some merit of being a shadow figure of a cat. Firstly, we can see a natural shadow on the bottom of the photo as evident from the transparency through the carpet. As the image progressing up, the shadow becomes so dark that it blocks out the light. Blocking out the light is uncommon for a shadow to accomplish. However, because we do not know what the surrounding area is or what type of lighting was used for the picture, we cannot determine its legitimacy. Still, this does give some merit for the claims that even animal's can remain after death.

De-bunked Photos
The following contains photos that are 100% natural in their form but are included here to educate others on why they can be mis-interpreted for paranormal.
Picture - False Mist (Camera error)
Comments: To an untrained eye, this might appear as ectoplasm mist. However, we can see that the color hue is reflecting off a gravesite, creating a reddish light. This is a normal picture.

Picture - False Orbs (Dust)
Comments: This picture was taken during our investigation of the Maryland Ave House. What you are seeing here is dust, which can be determined by three things. Firstly, it is transparent to the background of the attic. A solid body is often considered not dust. Secondly, it has to have the motion of movement if a picture, which means it has to have a tail on one end. Tails indicate motion for pictures. Thirdly, it has to give off its own light. Giving off its own light is not the same as reflecting light, and must be scrutinized to a fine degree.

Picture - False Light-Trail (Light Duplication)
Comments: This picture was we given to us by a community member. The picture contains a long light trail that was not visible at the time when the picture was taken. We can tell that this picture is natural because of a few items. First, we can see that this light trail contains multiple "circular" type shapes that are repeating over and over again in a line. This is highly indicative of a single circular shape that is being duplicated over and over again due to a slow shutter speed camera. Secondly, we can see a faint reflection of light from a far-away object, giving rise to where the circular light was created. Thirdly, the light line begins and/or ends beyond the picture frame, making it likely that it occurs from an external source. If the light began and ended within the frame with no apparent source, then we would have more of a questionable picture.

Picture - False Apparition (Matrixing)
Comments: This picture was we given to us by a community member. The picture contains a large number of trees within the Gettysburg battlefield and a figure that looks like a soldier from that era. However, we can see that this is not the case based on a few items. First, we can see that one branch is casting a shadow on the apparition in question. An authentic apparition will generally not have shadows casted on it (from the camera flash). This is more indicative of a solid object such as a tree. Second, we can see a similar object in similar color farther away. Thirdly, we can see the same object rising beyond the branches. To this end, we believe this photo is that of a tree. However, it was easily mistaken for something paranormal due to a phenomena called "Matrixing", which is what our brain attempts to do when given unknown or pieces of a photograph. Our brain then fills in the gaps to these pieces to create a familiar image. In this case, the missing data was extrapolated to create a regular person. If we could take away the background, then we can see that this figure is easily a tree.
